Young School, a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool, located in Columbia (Kings Contrivance), Maryland is accepting applications for a full time qualified Infant/Toddler Teachers (children ages 6 weeks to 2 years) and Pre-K Teachers (children ages 2-4 years). We are seeking experienced, qualified teachers and staff with a proven successful track record working with infants and young children. Those qualified must possess the required credentials, strong communication skills, and the passion for the early education profession.

The Head of School position carries responsibilities that focus on program operations, with a solid pedagogical background and understanding. Young School’s Head of School has strong leadership skills, creates opportunities, inspires, listens, and motivates to bring out the best professional, nurturing, and educational qualities in others to benefit the children in our care. We are looking for an individual who is positive and balanced, with the ability to steer the leadership of the school and create a positive school culture reflective of our core values of working with respect and intention, and upholding a strong image of the child.
Our ideal candidate is an outstanding communicator and has the ability to work proactively with the leadership team, teachers, and families within the school. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate a calm and empathetic stance regardless of the temperaments, experiences, or personalities involved, which is critical in working together for the best possible experience for young children . Our candidate will also be an active collaborative partner with the Young School corporate level departments, developing clear communication patterns across all spectrums.
Our ideal candidate must be committed to implementing Reggio-inspired practices and the RIE approach in a thoughtful and collaborative manner, setting high expectations for quality and maintaining accountability for professional standards and growth. The candidate will exhibit excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and the ability to follow through on all responsibilities, both timely and professionally.
• Bachelor’s Degree required in Early Childhood Education or in relevant field with related coursework.
• Must meet State educational and licensing requirements for Director; additional center/school requirements may apply.
• Successful track record of managing a staff of 25+
• A combination of infant, toddler, and/or preschool teaching experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task in a school setting .
• Computer literacy in Office Word , Excel, Outlook and web-based applications. Proficient in the use of office equipment.
This is a full time, year-round (12 month) position, is salary based and includes a benefit package.
